The Lineup

Meet the contributors to “BaseballCardFun.com”

Mark started collecting baseball cards in 1967 while growing up in the suburban Minneapolis-St. Paul area. A decades-long Minnesota Twins fan, he was Editor of two sports collecting newsletters in the 1980s and ’90s and served as a Staff Writer for “Baseball Hobby News” magazine from 1985-93. He wrote over 200 articles for those publications. Lately, Mark has been busy writing new articles, often focusing on the lighter side of the Hobby and baseball in general. He currently lives in Wisconsin — still collects cards — and hopes for a future Twins-Brewers World Series.

A Michigan native – and lifelong Tigers fan – Troy’s family relocated to California when he was young. Collecting cards was in his blood and Troy eventually penned the 1990 book “Collector’s Guide to Baseball Cards” and became a Staff Writer for “Baseball Hobby News.” In addition to baseball cards, he also collects vintage non-sports cards, with a specialty in movie star cards. Troy has developed a vast expertise in that area of collecting and was voted the 2021 Non-Sportsman of the Year from the Vintage Non-Sports Cards forum. He runs the website: moviecard.com.

The author of six books, two of them, “Minnesota Gold” and “More Minnesota Gold,” focus on athletes who have competed in world competitions, including the Olympic Games. He has also gotten to know hundreds of athletes while writing profiles of them on his website: MNAthletes.com. Packy has been a dedicated Minnesota Twins fan ever since his early days of listening to their radio broadcasts while working on his family’s dairy farm. He especially enjoys testing his knowledge of the game by participating in baseball trivia contests.

Guest writers may write an article now and then for the website, but are not necessarily regular contributors.
