Part 6 includes more examples of Topps’ pack inserts using recycled pictures. Another coin – this time from 1971 – is shown as well as a 1966 Rub-off. … A separately-sold product, Topps’ Supers, also had some repeats. … And a rather unique combination is also shown: A Bazooka photo was reused on the following year’s checklist card.

– 1967 • 1968 Game • 1969 –
As seen above, Topps must have gotten a kick out of recycling Tommy Davis card photos.

– 1959 • 1963 –

– 1968 • 1968 Game –

– 1970 • 1971 Coin –
Seven years after Topps issued their coin set in 1964, packs of ’71 cards also had a coin insert.

“Super” cards – with rounded borders – for three years. Supers were a separate product.

– 1958 • 1959 –

– 1965 • 1966 Rub-offs –
The ’66 Rub-offs were pack inserts that could be attached to
clothing or other items (shown before being rubbed).

– 1961 • 1961 Bazooka –
Topps “blacked out” Willie Mays’ cap logo on the 1961 card. The most likely reason is that he won the MVP Award while still with the New York Giants (“NY” Logo). This, of course, is the opposite of most of Topps’ fiddling with logos … usually, they got rid of the old logo, not the most current one.

– 1967 • 1969 • 1969 Decal • 1970 –
Topps must have liked Sam’s light blue windbreaker.

This is the sixth of eight articles exploring Topps’ recycyled photos.
