♥️ Made major league debut in 1959 with Baltimore, but didn’t return to majors until 1963.

♥️ Patrolled outfield for parts of seven seasons with Orioles and Senators, ending in ’68.

♥️ Best season was 1966 with Washington.

♥️ The switch-hitter batted .276, with 16 homers, 59 RBIs, 29 doubles and 22 stolen bases in ’66.

♥️ Hit .247 lifetime in 533 games.

♥️ At age 19, played first big league game in 1969 with Los Angeles.

♥️ Over 11-year span, the infielder appeared in 639 games for five teams: Dodgers, Angels, Padres, Mets and Mariners.

♥️ Not much of a power hitter, had just a dozen lifetime home runs in 1,698 at bats (while hitting .260).

♥️ Managed three major league teams over 16 seasons (Rangers, Mets and Red Sox) and also served as field leader in Japan.

♥️ Led Mets to National League pennant in 2000, but lost World Series to crosstown Yanks.

♥️ Compiled lifetime major league managerial record of 1186-1165.

♥️ Appeared in 894 big league games between 1975-85 for Expos, Mets, Angels and Rangers – vast majority with Montreal.

♥️ Had three excellent seasons with Expos in 1977-79, averaging 24 homers, 78 RBIs, 31 doubles and 74 runs scored, while collectively batting .286.

♥️ Member of National League All-Star team in 1977, walking once in two plate appearances.

♥️ Known for exceptional throwing arm, the right fielder won a Gold Glove in 1978.

♥️ Seasonal total of 24 outfield assists in ’78 is still near top over the past six decades.
