Over his entire career, Warren Spahn won 363 games (against 245 losses), tossed 63 shutouts and posted a lifetime ERA of 3.09. He pitched in three World Series, going 4-3, and threw a no-hitter at age 39.

The perennial All-Star pitched for the Boston/Milwaukee Braves for parts of 20 years before splitting his final season between the Mets and Giants. … Yet, let’s focus on the southpaw’s 363 wins – which, by the way, are sixth on the all-time list and the most by a lefty. He won 356 games with the Braves, four with the Mets and three with the Giants.

For a pitcher, Spahn was a fair hitter. He possessed some power and had 35 homers to his credit and batted .194 (363 hits in 1,872 at bats).

Notice that he ended his career with the same number of wins as hits — 363? … But that’s not all.

Spahn had 356 wins and 356 hits for the Braves.

He had four wins and four hits for the Mets.

And finally, three wins and three hits for the Giants.

In other words, Spahn had the exact same number of wins and hits for each of the three teams he played for during his 21 years in the big leagues.

Given his long, successful career, those identical numbers are quite remarkable as statistical coincidences.
